Prom planning...
Hey guys,
As well as all the other posts that will be appearing, there will be some prom posts. As I am in my last year of school and here in the UK we only get one prom at the end of year 11, it is quite a big thing so I will be doing posts on what to get when, guides on buying all these things and also some posts telling you about my experiences.
Oh did I mention that I am doing this thing on a very very tight budget?
As there is some time scale involved and it obviously won't be the same for everyone I will post things in relation to the date of my prom which is the 22/06/13 but I will also say roundly how long before the big day you should be doing things.
Okay so here goes:
This is a rough plan/checklist of what you should be doing when:
6+ weeks before:
Find and buy a dress - if you are buying from a prom dress shop where a lot of adjusting etc will need to be done then you will need to go NOW but if you are planning to buy from a high street store such as New Look, Coast, Topshop etc. then there isn't such a rush.
Also, if you are planning to get hair, nails etc done and you know your salon may be busy around that time book NOW to avoid disappointment.
Transport is another thing to book NOW, many towns only have a few limo companies and they will book up fast or if you are opting for something a little different that may book up even quicker. (Make sure that you use a liable company - last year three sets of girls couldn't go in a limo because the company didn't exist and had run off with their money)
6 weeks before:If you haven't already booked hair, nail, spray tan appointments etc. it's time to do so, you don't have to get any of this done you could do it all on your own or have it all done for you. It depends on personal preference and budget.
Start thinking about your hair style - maybe even try a little experimenting?
Buy or at least start looking for shoes and accessories...
4 weeks before:Start to plan the finer details of the night, where a you getting ready? Are you going to an after prom party? How are you getting home?
Confirm and double check the booking of your transport and confirm finalised collection location and time.
If you are buying your dress from a prom dress store find out if it is ready and go and pick it up.
If you have got your shoes begin breaking them in, you don't want blisters or sore feet all night.
2 weeks before:Start your skin care routine - this should be more complex than your normal every day cleanse etc as you don't want to end up will a face covered in blemishes etc.
The week before:Attend any appointments that you have booked and continue with you beauty regime.
The night before:Pack you bag and make sure you have everything - be prepared for every eventuality.
The day of your prom:Attend you hair and make up appointments - wear a button up shirt for you hair so you don't ruin it trying to take your top off.
Leave plenty of time to get ready and get to your destination - you don't want to be stressed out.So this is the rough plan, more posts coming soon.
Bye bye x
