Beauty essential: Vaseline
Hey guys,
It's been a while but basically it's been so crazy at school because of coursework deadlines etc. I just haven't had a chance to post anything.
Today, I want to talk to you about one of my must have beauty essentials.....VASELINE! It has so many uses its unbelievable and it's cheap too.
You only have to type into google "Uses for Vaseline" and you get a huge array of different websites telling you all sorts of things to use it for. However, since this is my beauty essential I am going to tell you about how I use the wonderful stuff.
- Lip Balm
This is the sun protect lip therapy pot, I've had it years so that's why it's a bit dented. Below is how much I have left in the pot, this one has a bit more in it than others which I bought at roughly the same time because as I live in England we don't get a lot of sun here.
2.Intensive Moisturiser
With Vaseline you can buy the huge pots which a just pure petroleum jelly and have nothing added this means you can use them for all sorts. One of my favourite things is to use it as is a very intensive moisturiser, this is because I have had excezma nearly all my life and although I get lots of magic potions and lotions from the doctors they either take days to work or are steroids which I am wary of using on my face. This didn't really work for me when I was little as my skin would be very bad but as it has got better and I have needed a moisturiser fast (e.g. The night before a party because otherwise my makeup will look horrible and flaky) and I have started to reach for Vaseline more and more often.
It is amazing it works overnight, all you have to do is apply a thin/medium layer to your skin just as you are getting into bed and wake up in the morning with a lovely smooth face. A WORD OF WARNING don't use this in the morning because you will end up looking like a grease ball all day and you won't be able to apply any make up. This is an excellent thing to do although I wouldn't recommend doing this more than twice a week unless its an absolute emergency. This is because whilst many claim that Vaseline does not clog your pores up and so even those with oily skin can use it (see below), I feel that that is only true to some extent and that if you were putting it on every night and then putting make up on in the morning your skin won't get the chance to breathe.
If you are worried about the grease clogging up your skin then don't worry it's a common miss conception, but I always find it good to cleanse your skin just as normal in the morning. Tea tree products are great as they remove blemishes and open your pores to allow out any gunk and grime that is in your skin.
This is a pot of Vaseline that my mum bought when it was a baby and its still going strong 16 years later. I think the packaging may have moved on now but it's still the same great stuff inside.
3. Eyelash extender
This is not something I do but a lot of my friends swear by this, apparently if you apply Vaseline to your eyelashes at night over time they will get longer. I can't stand it though so I have never been able to try it for long enough to see if it actually works. It's not actually having it on my eyelashes it's the next day because even though I wash my face thoroughly in the morning my eyelashes feel crusty for the whole of the next day.
Hope you liked this, leave me some comments on what you would like me to post about next time x
tell your friends not to use vaseline on their eyelashes it does not make them grow longer and in fact can damage them and cause them to fall out! warn them!
ReplyDeleteWow, I hadn't even realised! I'll make sure I tell them, thank you lovely x
