College Update
Hey everyone,
So back in September I posted this post about starting college and it's fair to say a few things have changed so I thought that I would answer them again since I have now finished my first year studies and am now starting A2. I have taken some out as I can't really give an update on them.
Which subjects are you doing?
I am still studying Media, Applied ICT and Modern History although I have now dropped Music Technology.
Which subject is your favourite?
So back in september I said that Music Tech was my favourite subject which my the end of the year it definitely was not in fact I couldn't wait to finish it. I am supposed to be studying it for the next four weeks and then making my decisions in the summer but I have taken the risk of dropping it now. I don't know why I didn't like it so much I think it was a few things. Firstly, it is a very individual subject I am a very social person and this subject really isn't that. You go into the lesson, listen to the teacher for a bit and then sit in front of a computer with headphones on for the next hour. Also, there was just so much work which meant going in and working on it in free periods where I would want to spend time with my friends or get on with other things and as the work couldn't be done at home I ended up doing it to just the bare minimum.
How do you get there and back?
I am still walking everyday although at the moment I am tending to get a lift with my mum in the morning as she drives that way to take my brother but as of September she will be going in the other direction so I will defiantly be walking there and back everyday.
Have you got lost yet?
I have somehow managed to get through the whole year without getting lost sometimes I'll end up going a long way round but I haven't ever been super lost where I have had to ring someone to come and rescue me...(the year isn't over yet though)
Are you enjoying it?
Yes!! I am still loving college, of course there are some days that I don't want to get out of bed but even with Music Tech I never hated it, it was just never really my favourite thing to do.
Have you made friends?
As I said in September I tend to stay with my old friends at lunch and breaks because everybody has their own groups although we do have a few new additions to our clan. In lessons I have made some amazing friends, in particular in ICT and Media. I am still friends with Zoe although perhaps not as much as we would like as we got split up for talking...we weren't that bad! Also somebody that didn't get a mention in my September post was Georgia because she used to sit on the other side of the room to me but I since moved and I can't believe how similar we are and how well we get on.
What do you do in free periods?
I still do pretty much the same things in my free periods but there was more studying towards the end although I'm sure there were also plenty where absolutely nothing got done.
Is there a big step between AS and GCSE?
It is still hard for me to compare this but I would say there is some increase not in the actual work just in the amount that you have to learn, I wish I had actually made revision notes as I went along instead of at the end because I feel like I would get better results.
I hope you have enjoyed this and I'll try to do it again in September after the official start of A2.
Good Luck to anybody that still has exams,
Maddie x
